Compassionate, personalized mental health support for individuals and families across the West Island.”
About West Island Mental Health
Appointments may be available within the same week.
West Island Mental Health was created with a simple belief: everyone deserves access to compassionate, professional mental health support during difficult moments in life.
Reaching out for help is often one of the hardest steps a person can take. Our clinic was built to make that step feel safer, more approachable, and more supportive. We strive to provide a welcoming and respectful environment where individuals can speak openly about what they are experiencing and receive thoughtful guidance from qualified professionals.
West Island Mental Health offers a collaborative approach to care. Our services include social work support, mental health assessments, and consultations with a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This allows us to support individuals experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional stress, and relationship difficulties.
Our goal is not only to help people through difficult periods, but also to support them in developing the insight, resilience, and practical strategies needed to move forward with greater stability and confidence.
Appointments are available both in person and online, and we aim to provide timely access to care whenever possible.

About the Founder
Maria Amato, BSW
Founder and Clinical Director
With a DEC in Special Care Counselling and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from McGill University, I have been supporting individuals, couples, and families since 2007. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the challenges people face across different life stages.
As a social worker, my role is to walk alongside you — offering support, guidance, and tools that empower you to navigate your journey. I strive to create a space that is non-judgmental, validating, and genuinely connected to your lived experience.
I practice through a strength-based, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed lens, and it is a true privilege to support you on your path to greater well-being.
Our Approach
At West Island Mental Health, we recognize that every individual’s situation is unique. Our work focuses on understanding each person’s experiences, identifying the challenges they are facing, and helping them move toward practical and meaningful change.
- A respectful and supportive environment
- Individualized guidance based on each person’s needs
- Evidence-informed mental health care
- Practical strategies for navigating emotional challenges
West Island Mental Health was created from a deep belief that people deserve to feel supported during life’s most difficult moments.
Many of the individuals who reach out to us have been carrying their struggles alone for a long time. Our role is to provide a place where those experiences can be understood and supported with care and professionalism.
Getting Started
Taking the first step toward support can feel difficult, but you do not have to navigate challenges alone.
Appointments may be available within the same week depending on clinician availability.
You can schedule an appointment through our online booking system or contact us if you would like more information about our services.
